Phenological phases (phenophases) represent a certain observable phase in the annual cycle of an animal or plant organism, which has a particular start and/or endpoint. This can, for example, be a certain phase of organ development or life cycle phase. Phenophases are more or less affected by external environmental factors. Monitoring long-term changes in phenophases can therefore provide information about changes in the environment.
